She sat in a corner and cried,
until
there were no tears...
She wanted to scream at the various
gods she had offered her prayers to....
The hot magma of shame , guilt and fear
burnt her alive...
In sixth standard she studied,in a
school six villages away...
A group of men unknown, took her
away and defied her dignity again and again
and had left her to die on a highway...
She came home and told her ordeal,
she
cried ; cried in shame ...
Silent as the wind, like a ghost she turned pale,
dropped out of school.
An image of horrible pain and gloom hung around her eyes
as
if she had been plucked of the desire to live...
Unable to bear the agony, her parents
consumed poison,
Her brother, mother, father and sister
all died unable to face the humiliation
leaving her alone to suffer in silence...
Her dreams were shattered, her youth
destroyed,
Her personality snatched,
Her future on a funeral fire...
she became the outcast of the village,
the subject of
many a silent whisper,
her head held low she walks away...
A case was Booked as per law,no one
found guilty even after months...
Slowly and slowly,
she withers away in
darkness
Too afraid to scream...
Too afraid to die...
Too afraid to live...
Scarred for life...
If she only she could fight,
If only she had support,
If only she would get justice...
we face a grave uncertain future ,
lets not sit in silence....
Society is ours to change , it
shall change only when we change it !!
Laws shall not make its impact unless such heinous criminal offenses punishable by death and the victim is allowed back into
society and given respect to her strength not given a tag for the rest of her life
!!
until when we can't treat the victim
with respect, god knows how many such victims shall suffer in silence....
